+ In 2008: There were 762 strikes but in 2014 there were only 303 strikes
+ Number of strikes in 2014:
  •          FDI : 68%

+ Number of Strikes in Foreign-Invested Firms

+ Strikes by industry in 2014
  •         Garment                    114

Because there are a lot of garment factories in Vietnam and many foreign companies have started producing here, there were many changes in the recently
  •          Footwear industry    54

This is one of the main industries with a lots of workerand the company belong to the Employers from China, Korean…
  •          Power industry        20

Causes of strikes:
+ January:
-         Adjustments of the minimum wage law
-         Lunar New Year
+ 2009-2010: Economic crisis affects the labor supply and demand
+ 2010 : Started the signing of collective labor agreements
The characteristics of strikes in Vietnam:
  •          Spontaneous
  •         Not in accordance with law
  •          No bargaining
  •          when the economic trend growth and reduce the economic recession
  •          Higher spreads
  •          Quick strikes (3 days)

The reason:
  •          Unpaid Wages
  •         Labor Contracts, Layoffs, and Social Insurance
  •          Meals and Accommodations
  •          Low wages
  •          Higher labor norms
  •          Working time of workers lasted
  •          Non-implementation of democracy in the enterprise
  •          Unions have not sided with workers
  •          No signing collective labor agreement
  •          Unpopular labor laws for workers

In my opinon, there are solutions:
-         + Enterprises need to solve the problem of wages for workers on time
-         +Requires collective bargaining in the enterprise
-        + State must strictly handling violations of labor law
-         +Social dialogue conducted periodically as prescribed
-         +Advocacy to raise awareness to employees
